It’s An Age Gap Thing (lol)

Although Phil and i have a 32 year(and 3 month) age gap we are so intune with each other that we dont see one………….well not often anyway

But one of the things that does remind us is technology and the ever faster speed it seems to advance.

Our new mobile phones have arrived and i am really looking forward to all the "aps" and various tech they have while Phil has been looking for a Night School where he can go to learn how to use his……lol

You cant really get a "basic" phone nowadays. Well you can but there are a couple of things that even Phil likes

He is very easy to please and as long as it can have his own ring tone,a reasonably camera(just in case)and he can phone and tex he is happy(bless him)

So he now has a phone that will do just a little more than that(hahahaha)

Lets just say his phone will be a good buy for someone at the end of our contract as it will have hardly been used. Just like his Nokia. The earphones ect are still in the pack they came in. Infact it is almost as new

So wish me luck as im going to instruct Phil how to use his new phone.

Thats why we both had the same……………smart cookie me!!  (have a good teacher see)……….lol

A Great Ebay Weekend!!

As ive said many times now part of the Ebay selling bug thingy is not ever knowing what is going to happen. (sales wise or price as we put most of our stuff on auction)

We put a few L.P,s (33rpm) on as we had "aquired them" last week and it all finished on Sunday.

They were all what you would discribe as in "mint" condition. Not a mark or a scratch on any record.

We put on 3X Kylie Minogue records one which had its origional poster with it.

Started the auction at £0.99 with a fair postage(including wrapping)price

We also did the same for a bundle of Erasure records. Again same starting price.

But……………………………………

The Erasure records sold for the 99p plus postage and the Kylie records for £25 to some person in Sweden

Where’s the logic in that….lol

 

Anyway we had a very successful Ebay sale which as it happens is a good job as Orange have let us down badly.

Our contracts are 3 months away from the end so it is upgrade time

Only what Orange have offered us is pathetic!!

We have got the phones we wanted on the contract we wanted for less money and a £30 cash back on both phones.

Phones4U have done us proud!! And we are using some of our record sales money to pay off our remaining 3 month phone contract.

The big Joke is guess who the new contract provider is????…………………ORANGE!!!

 

Rather A Nice Weekend

Kayley and i spent a very nice weekend with relatives in Tewkesbury

It really is so nice to relax and be yourself. To be able to say what you think when you think it

Patsie is without dought a superb cook. From main meals to puddings its all good!!

I guess she is an old fashioned lass in many ways and it is a pleasure to eat anything she serves up

Add a drop or two of a nice wine and good conversation and it just flows……

Kayley had a slight touch of a bad head Sunday morning(fueled by the Gin one thinks)

Sunday dinner was an event in its self we really should have taken the camera.

How Dave stays the way he is without putting hardly any weight on at all i dont know.

Perhaps its the "D" plan….lol.

We had a fantastic time lets face it.

South Bound this weekend

Tomorrow morning we are off down south. Not too far down south though only about 40 miles ish.

Going for a quite relaxing weekend with cousins(yeh right….lol)

Already got the booze and a couple of things to take with us.

Will be a good weekend for sure.

The weather can please it’s self infact we dont want it sunny all weekend as we aint on the bikes(yet again)

 

Our Puter played up yesterday but the boss had it apart and changed a couple of things.

We have been looking at a solid state hard drive 

When i say we i mean the other half type we….lol

I dont do to technical…hahahahah

 

Talking about which our mobiles are due an upgrade on Sunday.

Looks like im going to get one which will do a little more than my requirements shall we say

Personally i dont need one which will talk to N.A.S.A. while playing 5000 tunes and texin at the same time but unless i go for the "old git" type phone(which i am not) im sort of stuck. Therefore if i have the same one as the bride at least i can learn from her( thats the theory anyway)

We shall see shall we not!!!!

 

 

So The Summer Is Over then?

There still is another week(7 days) before Autumn is officialBut i think Summer ended a few weeks back now.

Only a short while back the weather people were saying how it had been the dryest first half of the year since 1928.

Well i think over the last few weeks it has made up for it.

As im sitting here typing this it is very dull and raining out side.

 

We have not been on our bikes for a few weeks and this weekend we are away visiting relatives.Another weekend of fresh country air and the odd drink or two or three or four ect,ect.

Cusain Alex is off to Cardif Uni very soon so its a sort of send off weekend(any excuse for a drink)

It will be a funweekend for sure.

Ben looks forward to seeing Phil. Two kids together they are…lol.

 

We have infact been invited to spend Christmas with our relatives in Tewkesbury which we are seriously thinking about excepting.

It will be strange not to spend it at moms and no Panto but maybe its time for a change.

We will see……………..

 

 

Maxed Out On Music Weekend. (old stuff that is)

We drove a few miles over the weekend. Nothing to much. I guess we may have clocked up 150 miles or so.

What we were doing was collecting records from various locations within a 30 mile radious from us.

Its alway’s a bit of a gamble when you collect "a bundle" of 78RPM records.

But thats part of the fun for us. We also had a few 33rpm L.P.s in with the deal as they say

The weather was crap which we were pleased about. It ment we would not have gone out on the bikes anyway

 

We have a system which we stick to with our records. After trial and error in the early days we find it the quickest and easyest way to sort them out.

As we have said before ,old records have normally been kept in garages or sheds. Or infact anywhere that they really should not have been.

The first thing is to check every record. Many will not be in sleves and until you look at them all you have no idea how many are broke or scratched to death.

Phil then washes them, and drys then with the help of a fan and a"T" towel.

We then play every one. Obviously to make sure they all do play ok and to sort out which we like and which we dont.

Space here is limited so we cant keep them all. We do also often have 2 or 3 of the same record.

Personal taste plays a big part but we agree on about 98% which records to keep.

As we said before part of our enjoyment is infact often not knowing what you are getting.

We have had a few pleasant suprises as well as dissapointments.

For example we picked up a "bundle" of what we thought were all 78RPM records to infact find out most were infact 33RPM L.P.s.

But all the L.P.s were infact "mint". Almost like they had never been played.

So one thing ballanced out the other.

All in all it was a very nice weekend. We have added a few "special" 78’s to our collection.

We even went nuts and took a trip to The Merry Hill Shopping Centre on Sunday afternoon.. Not too many people about and we found a parking space with ease.

 

 

 

 

Just For The Record!

We have been sorting out our latest additions of 78RPM records.

As nearly always these were kept in a garage for one or two years and needed a good wash

It is not an easy or quick job but we have it sort (had loads of practice)

Just need to play every one now…lol

That takes some time( the odd bottle of wine helps)

Only a few broken ones(old records break easy)

Got a few really nice ones which im sure we will be keeping.

Glenn miller, The Inkspots, Four aces ect.

But its all fun to us…….(yeh i know we are a strange couple)…….lol

 

Congratulations to our Nephew on his engagement

Our nephew got engaged at the weekend.

We didnt find out until a couple of days before and had already made plans.

So we didnt get to go

It sounds  like they all had a great time.

Christmas Plans (be here quicker than you think)

If you have not noticed there are already Xmas stuff is in shops

It will be here before you know it….lol

As dad is no longer with us we always knew that our Christmas’s were going to change from now on.

Didn’t realise just how much but it will be nice to have a complete change.

Well we have had an invite to spend Xmas with friends

I say Xmas but its really just Xmas eve,Xmas day and Boxing day.(that is xmas you plonker!)

We have other plans for New Years eve.(not finalised them yet)

Will be nice to have a stress free Xmas for a change…lol

 

 

 

 

 

A couple of little Gems! (78 rpm records)

i guess a lot of people will not understand our interest/hobby in 78RPM records.

Lets face it the sound quallity is often quite poor. The records are quite fragile and break easy and they take up loads of space.

But to us they are musical history. A part of our musical heritage.

We realise that we have less space than most people to keep our collection in and therefore we do sell ones we dont like and have given about 100 to charity so far.

Today we recieved what i can only discribe as a couple of gems!!.

Buddy Holly and The Crickets. Peggy Sue and That’ll be the day.

Both the records are in very good condition and besides the normal crackle on the record they play well.

We are happy anyway
